The ROCKHARBOR medical ministry invites you to attend our first ever community evangelism training (CHE). We have invited Stan Rowland, author of multiplying light and truth through che, to teach this one-day seminar on developing and empowering communities to overcome poverty, disease and hopelessness. The CORE principles of CHE are to train local leaders, utilize local resources, and produce sustainable results. CHE is passionate about helping communities find solutions to their problems, and enhancing the dignity and capabilities of the people they serve. The topics covered in this seminar will include healthy communities, long term change versus temporary relief, and neighborhood transformation. Come learn about the che model and how to better empower those we serve!

The April 2010 Mexico build trip is now open for registration.   Here are the details:

Date: April 30th – May 2nd, 2010

Time: 7am Friday to approx. 8pm Sunday (depending on border lines)

Cost: $450 ($100 non-refundable deposit + $350 fundraising)

Goal: Build a house for a family in Rojo Gomez and change lives on both sides of the border.

Deadline: Please register by Sunday, March 14th before the meeting.

We’re opening up registration for the March one-day trips. On this trip we will continue to deepen our relationship with the community of Rojo Gomez through door to door evangelism, activities with the local kids, and more. We will be throwing a Christmas party and handing out Christmas gifts.

Date: March 27th, 2010
Time: 6:30 AM until approximately 8:00 PM (hopefully earlier depending on the border line)
Cost: $40 non-refundable deposit to cover gas and car insurance
Deadline: You must register by Wednesday, March 24th. We will not accept late registration.

**As of June 1, 2009, U.S. passport, a passport card, a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST, or an enhanced driver’s license are REQUIRED.   They are no longer taking normal drivers licenses and birth certificates (except for minors).

Join our team to serve in a one day medical clinic in Rojo Gomez Mexico! We need volunteers who are both medical and non medical to serve in the vitals station, help with patient flow, work in the pharmacy, and spend the day loving on the children and families who are waiting. Our goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus through the medium of medical and dental care to a very needy community! Details to follow.

It has been a blessing for me to have been a part of ROCKHARBOR Mexico since Feb 2006, so you can imagine my surprise when Curt Weigel sent me over a file that our contact, Hector, at Baja Christian Ministries compiled that had all the locations of the houses we built in the last three and half years.   32 families have been blessed with a home in that time.   Thank you to all of you who have given up your time and energy to be the hands and feet of Christ in Mexico.

As you may know, we are sending three build teams to Mexico this summer as part of the GO Campaign! We are very excited about this opportunity and hope that you can join us as we go down.

In order to make the trip more affordable, we have reduced the price from the normal $450 to $200. We are going to cover the extra cost of the trip through an exciting new ministry that we were recently put in contact with called Blood for Missions. Blood for Missions is a non-profit organization that uses blood drives to raise money for mission trips and ministry groups such as ourselves. For each pint of blood given, money will be sent directly to Baja Christian Ministries to help raise $10,000 for building materials.

Dates and times::

There are two blood drives coming up this month.

Sunday, June 14: 10am – 5pm
Sunday, June 28: 2:30pm – 9:30pm

How you can help::

- Give Blood:: make an appointment on either the 14th or the 28th and help support our ministry through this sacrifice of your time and body.
- Encourage Friends to Give Blood:: anyone can participate in this event! Ask your friends, family, and co-workers to give a little bit of their time and blood to support our ministry.
- Volunteer:: We need volunteers to help make this happen. There are two ways in which you can volunteer.
- Work the patio:: We are going to have a table on the patio to promote the blood drives and help people make appointments. We need at least two volunteers at each service (including Shark Club!) on the following weekends:

June 6-7
June 13-14
June 20-21
June 27-28

- Work the Blood Drive:: We need people at the blood drive itself to help set up, tear down and sign people in for their appointments. We need volunteers throughout the day on these dates:June 14, from 8am-7pm
June 28, from 12:30-11pm

- Wear a sombrero! We will have sombreros available at the patio. Put it on while you’re at church, tell people to go sign up to give blood, and then return the sombrero after the service.

There have been updates in the U.S. passport requirement schedule.  This information is crucial for anyone going on a RH Mexico trip moving forward…

On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI.  The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document.  Normal driver’s licenses w/ birth certificate will no longer be accepted (except for minors).
